Ok well its spring and so landscaping is taking off, that means the money is flowing in! So i plan on getting a 450 this month, and one of the first things i'm doing is getting new shocks. I have absolutely no idea what the hell i am doing.

I ride mostly XC and i might start racing towards the end of the year. What kind of features in a shock do i need to look for? I ride at the track every now and then, but i want the shocks to be geared for XC.

Also, cost isnt really going to be an issue. Basically its going to be between Custom Axis, Elka, and PEP. I dont see too many of the GNCC guys running PEPs- they seem to be more geared towards MX. So when it comes down to it, what are the advantages that Axis has over Elka?

Thanks for the help.

I have run Axis regular travel and long travel.

I have both compression and rebound adjustments.

I tried the no rebound adjustment shocks once and didn't like them.

Elka has come long ways in their shocks too. Their customer service is top notch.

Either way you'll be ok.

If you plan on doing long rides, make sure you get reservoirs too.
Ohh and triple rates too.

Axis doesn't have any advantages on Elka in my opinion!
Elka has several advantages over Axis like more options, better busings, better customer service and you can get them in less than 2 weeks.
