i never really understood this too much because i know nothing about the nikasil plated sleeves. if you put in a stock bore, high compression piston, would i need to get it honed and replated or is that not necessary due to the plating?

It depends on the number of hours and what the plating looks like. Most of the time you just put the piston in with a little oil. The plating a hard stuff so unless you have 100+serious hours on it, you are probably good.

you cant just slide it in you have to have a ring compressor and engine assembly oil most auto parts stores have them in adjustable sizes just take the piston with you

why do you need a ring compressor for the 450r? i have built 400ex engines and 1 rancher and i have not used a ring compressor once. i always compress the rings with my hands. i am not saying it is easy but it can be done. well of course you should use assembly lube. :)

i know this is a highly debated topic but what do most consider safe for compression ratios on fresh 93 octane fuel?

you don't NEED a ring compresser but it is nice. And i would definatly hone the cylinder with a bar hone

i was told you shouldn't do this on the 450r like you do on many other bikes due to the nikasil plated cylinder?
