I am going to buy a 450R 05 or 06?

Should I wait for the 06? or just buy the 05? I am afraid they will chane it a lot for 06. Don't say wait for the Suzuki because, well, It is a Suzuki.I like the Yamaha but I wan't reliability and like the idea of no battery.

their is going too be a few changes too the 06, so if you can wait awhile then go ahead. or buy an 05 and sell it when the 06's come out

I doubt anyone really knows whats going to happen with the '06
Honda hasn't changed the 300ex for 1000 years, but the 300ex isn't Honda's flagship sportquad. I believe the 250r recieved updates over its life.
My general opinion is that there will be a few things updated but nothing major.

If waiting for an 06 means no riding all summer get the 05 !

I think for the 06 they are going to put a electic start on the 450 instead of kick. Thats what i heard.

I heard that they will change the linkage to a CR500 style. One of the mechanics at the last national was saying something about it

I just talked with a major engine builder here in the states, and he said there will be two changes. #1 Electric start with a kick start option like the Yammi. #2 Changed frame geometry. Supposed to be out in June. I am pissed, I just bought a 05 last month.

nuthing major at all. if you buy a new linkage or something for an 05 its going to be better than the 06 so get the 05.

Glad I've got my 04 already if that's the case... Pay more to get all the electric BS - then pay even more to get it back to a kick like it should be.... No sense in the electric BS with a quad that starts this easily.

the frame geometry will not be changed for 06. why would they do that when all companies are finally making aftermarket bolt ons for the R. that means they will all have to re style again. If there were going to be changes in the frame, companies wouldnt be making fenders, gas tanks, and any other part that needs to be bolted to the frame. it wouldnt make sense. the linkage...maybe. motorwise, they may put the hrc cam in it stock...maybe. other than that, maybe a color variation or graphic change but nothing major.

Lets not forget the suzuki may be coming out as well and i'm sure its going to be an awesome quad. honda is a smart company and if they are going to drastically change their racing quad, i'm sure they are going to wait to see what suzuki does.

as far as the electric start goes, who cares if they put it on. really. i have an 05 and it has kick so i'm not worried. if they do put e-start on it, they had better keep the kick for a back-up, find a nice place to put the battery, and find a way to cut weight in different areas to make up for the battery.

I did hear somewhere that the YFZ will have a stock kick back-up:eek:

Id say go with the 05 cuz i doubt they will make anything change except the colors...i bet they will add that yellow like the 400ex's
