the cams are not interchangeable because the 400ex has dual cams which means one for intake and one for exhaust. im pretty sure im right but if im not some one correct me im dont know much bout the 400ex

The 400 only has i cam but it is longer and ham more lobes on it because of the extra valves in the 400

the 400 doesn't have extra valves, they are both 4 valve engines.

I didn't think that the 300s had 2 exhaust valves because it only has 1 exhaust pipe...

yeah i does it's like a 2 in 1. it's like the 450's they have 4 vavles and just on pipe. the only thing with just 2 valves is the warrior

well it just like the intake. it goes from one hole ( carb ) to 2 hole ( 2 valves ) well it does the same on the exhaust, 2 valves that go in to 1 hole for the exhaust.

Than what is the advantage of a twin cam motor over this design if they both have 4 valves?

well the cams ride direcly on top of the valves, there are no rockers arms, so the spec can be tighter, so the motor cam rev faster.
