does anyone have any idea how to tell the difference between the bottom end engine of a (ATC) and the bottom end engine of a (TRX) , without serial numbers??? just wondering what i have?????

connecting rod Ha2 or Ka4, 6th gear has one more tooth. pull the clutch cover off if there is a collar on the kick starter shaft its 85-87 Also where the bolt for the front engine mounts passes through the case halves the cut out is different on the 88-89

thanks 88 250R ,,, Could you explain the difference between how the front mount bolt passes through the cases are diff between the 85-87 and the 88-89????

85 ATC motors have a shorter kicker shaft. The collar that the clutch basket bearings ride on is a two piece deal. 85-86 ATC and 86 TRX transmissions, cranks, cylinder porting, are identical. ATC's ran a thinner head gasket. 87 and up is where the more noticable changes occur.

the bolt is exposed more on the 88-89 and less on the 85-87
