Just got my stuff back and I am starting to put the engine together. This time I am using a XR400 Head Gasket, My question is.......Do I use all three layers of this gasket, I thaught I once heard someone tearing off one of the layers to give them the clearance they needed. I am waiting on this.....Thanks

The two outer layers are steel and the middle layer is a clear plastic. Thanks for the help.

I would not alter that gasket..... Use it as is. It is already thinner than the stock one....

I'm guessing you already have it together, but I thought I'd post this in case any one else was searching for this info...

The stock gasket is 3 layers, and so is the XR400 gasket, but if you compare them side by side the middle layer on the XR400 is much thinner than the EX's head gasket..

I used the XR400 gasket, and just bolted it in..

Someone posted a while back that the XR400 gasket was only two layers thick, I don't know if they changed the gasket or what, but mine was 3 layers..
