Newbie here, I hope I wont get busted on because this subject has been covered multiple times. I tried the search feature, but I am on dial up and it was taking forever to go through them.

Anyway, I am trying to get the right rear hub off so I can replace the brake rotor. I have heated and cooled numerous times and cannot get that nut off. I have a giant pipe wrench holding the axle and a breaker bar and cheater pipe on the nut. Can someone confirm if the nut is left handed thread? I assume it is, but just want to make sure. Anyone have any helpful tips? Its a 2002 300ex

I always thought it was right hand thread, because the cotter pin would hold it from turning.

I think he's refering to the lock nut. I know how to do it on the 400 but not sure if the 300ex is the same:ermm:

Not the axle lock nut, just trying to get the hub off the axle so I can swap the rotor.

once the hub nut is off the hub should just slide right off

It is regular threads with a cotter pin holding it. Try some penetrating lube on it and then break it free. I haven't heard of anyone else having trouble with these. It should just break free.
