i just bought a 440 ex kit for my 400 ex and i was wondering about my timing. when i put my camshaft back in how do i reset the timing??

Put the piston at TDC and just align the marks on the cam sprocket with the top of the head, with the lobes facing down and you should be good to go.

you have to look at the flywheel first to see the T mark,, the tmark should be in the window when it is at TDC,,, then you put the sprocket in the chain so the lines line up then put the cam in with the lobes down.

I don't mean to be a jerk here, but if you have a question as simple as timing, you probably should NOT be rebuilding your own engine. Contrary to popular belief, it's a bit more complex than just throwing a piston in, especially on the 400EX.

Why don't you just back off a bit. Did you ever think that maybe he's trying to educate himself about motors. I guess your gonna say you knew exactly what you were doing the very first time you rebuilt a motor. Or maybe you just pay someone else to do it. I'm not trying to be a jerk either but how is someone supose to learn if they never do it.
