Round 2 of the Youth division hit the track at the "Big Buck" in Union South Carolina. The weather and track conditions were greatly improved over the Steele Creek race, and a full 2 miles+ of course awaited these young rides.

Cain McQuinley was on the line awaiting the race to get kicked off! Cain finished 11th in his 90cc Production class at Steele Creek and he was looking to get up front and improve this round.

Youth racer attendance was down slightly with 55 riders registered for this event. Even so, this is quite a full field of talented riders in every class!

Cody Hill won the 90cc Production class at Steele Creek and looked eager to get back to the front for a repeat!

Tyler Pinkston and his number 1 fan, his dad Jim, get prepped at the line. This was the first round of racing for Tyler but I would bet to say his dad was more nervous:D

The rider to watch in this series is none other then Walker Fowler. Steele creek wasn't kind to him and he was eager to get his Hetrick's Kasea back on top at the Big Buck.

Pappy
04-17-2005, 12:33 PM
Kyle Riley is a holy terror aboard his TRX 90 in his local series. Rumor had it friday night that Riley would be at the Big Buck aboard a new Cobra 70! He didnt dissappoint as he rode the race inspired quad to the line.

Pappy

With the rider meeting over, race time was finally uopn the field. Dont think for one minute Racer Productions takes these young racers lightly. The professionalism is unmatch!

90cc Production was off the line and heading for the first turn! Walker Fowler races to the front as the 2nd round gets underway!

Pappy
04-17-2005, 12:56 PM
Fowler was out front and pulling away after turn 2, as Cheyne Gravley was pulling strong in 2nd.

Pappy
04-17-2005, 12:57 PM
The remainder of 90cc Production was all bunched up heading into the second turn.

Pappy
04-17-2005, 01:08 PM
By the time I made my way over to an area where I could catch up with the leaders, Walker Fowler was just coming in for the end of his first lap. He was clearly not going down easy this race, and if he could keep the quad together 1st place was going to be his!

Pappy
04-17-2005, 01:10 PM
Cheyne Gravely was in 2nd chasing down Fowler. I did not have a watch, but only 20 seconds or so seperated the 2 riders early in the race.

Pappy
04-17-2005, 01:13 PM
I didn't know who the next rider(s) would be when they reached me. I was not expecting to see Cody Hill come thru in 3rd at the end of the first lap! He had moved to the back of the field in the 2nd turn off the start but was making his way to the front!

Pappy
04-17-2005, 01:20 PM
By the 2rd lap, Walker and Gravely were still running 1st and 2nd. Both riders were now mixing it up with lapped riders from the other classes. I figured if Cody could pick up the pace, he had a chance to close the gap the leaders had opened.

Fowler gets by a lapped rider and heads back into the woods.

Pappy
04-17-2005, 01:25 PM
Hill gets ready to make a pass on 70cc rider Micheal Mussi as they enter a field section. I knew there was only a few riders between him and the leaders at this point and kept my fingers crossed he could get busy in the woods and make up time.

Pappy
04-17-2005, 01:27 PM
Cain McQuinley was in 4th and had seen his share of tree's:eek: He kicked off his broken fender and kept the pace up!

Pappy
04-17-2005, 01:31 PM
Devon Delucca was working his way to the front fast! He rode a solid race and never stopped pushing to better his position.

Pappy
04-17-2005, 01:32 PM
Kyle Riley was not having a good day:( He had a few issues with his quad and that kept him out of contention:(

Pappy
04-17-2005, 01:34 PM
Donnie Howell is another great young rider that at any race can spoil your day! He is fast and usually fighting for the lead.

Chase Walker screams down a field section!

Pappy
04-17-2005, 01:38 PM
Lap 3 had Fowler out front and setting his own pace. Micheal Keleman was on a mission and was absolutley flying thru this course! Keleman switched to 90cc Production after Steele Creek.

Pappy
04-17-2005, 01:41 PM
The top 5 or 6 riders came past me and Cody Hill was nowhere to be seen:eek: Finally he came by and shouted that he had wrecked:(

Pappy
04-17-2005, 01:47 PM
Walker Fowler held on to take the win over second place Mikey Keleman and 3rd place Joshua Dains!

Keleman proudly displays his trophy!

Pappy
04-17-2005, 01:52 PM
90cc Limited rider Joshua Dains makes his second trip to the podium. Josh is proving he is one rider who can get it done!

Racer Productions at first handed him the second place trophy and he looked nonplused when they revealed thier error. Ever the gentleman, Josh took it in stride.

Ill state it here, Dains will get an overall before this series is complete!

That wraps our race summary for this round. I had Harlen burn me a cd at the race and I could not get it to load fully until I was done posting my last picture:p I will post the pictures so the riders and thier families can see them in action!

We had a great time, and Cody is fine. A tweaked wrist and some bruises thats all. He will need 2 new tie rods, a new Helmet and a few other parts before the Penton but we will be there:macho Im just proud he got her rolled back over and fired up and worked his way back to 7th!

Congrats to all the young riders, it was great seeing you all race!

:) Once again Pappy, EXCELLENT coverage of our youth. Thanks !! Hope Cody heels fast, glad he's ok. Cheyne was stoked to see himself on the site. I was happy just to see him finish after all the damage in NC to his ride. Coming home with only a few minor repairs to the rear end due to wedging himself in the trees & tider tottering a huge log befoe he got over it. :eek pretty sure- it's the factor that cause his chain to come off in the last lap. There wasn't a bolt that was tight. THAT'S RACING! Congrats to all the pilots! See everyone in Ohio:)

Great Pictures. What a nice surprise. When i went to the GNCC page I saw a link and followed it to this site. My son was Mike Poteete, the kid with the purple mohawk on his helmet! LOL...A bunch of fellow racers gave it to him for good luck. This was his first race and he loved it. He got 5th in the 90cc stock 11-15. I think he is hooked. He hit a tree and bent the bumper and did roll it once but he said a bunch of parents were there to help. He got back on and finished. The track was awsome. Thanks to everyone that made this race happen and to all the parents out there helping the children.:)
