I want to wake up my motor a little, and was thiking a 330 kit.I found one on ebay for like $299..Kit includes:JE 330cc big bore piston(with circlips and rings)hi-performance gasket,rev-box,dynojet jet kit, K & N hi-flow air filter. Will i need to change anything else, like a cam?Or will the stock cam work for nowi plan on putting a cam in after, but it will be a little while until i have the money for one.And will this realy wake up my 300? BTW-i already have an exhaust. Thanks,Neil

that kit isnt complete.... you gotta get a 80mm sleeve to fit that piston

i didn't notice that. you think they just meant for you to bore the stock one??

ya your gonna need a sleeve too

Would I need a sleeve if I just bore it say .60 over?

No you wouldnt if you bore it .60 over, but you won't get near as much power. Just call up FST, then tell them you want the full 330 kit, without cam and valve springs. It comes with piston, sleeve, gasket. But not a filter or rev box or jet kit. You might be able to just get a sleeve off of them and then buy the other kit.

My 330 runs all over 400's like they are nothing. I can also beat a piped z 400 by a little bit in a top end drag, plus in bottom end too.

But i do not want to buy a kit and then have to buy 10 other things. Will I have to buy valve springs too?...I already have a filter. Thanks Neil

FasterBlaster,

I saw the same kit you did on ebay, they say you do not need a sleeve for the kit, I think they're full O crap if you ask me,
you need the sleeve, unless you want paper thin cyl. walls.....:eek2:

you need a sleeve for the 330 kit, the walls would be super thin i wouldnt trust a kit that didnt come with a new sleeve.

your better off just buying the parts yourself. im in the process of 330ing mine, i might accually bore it to a 400 but i havent decided yet. with a 330 youll prolly want to port the head or buy a 350x head, b\c the head on a 300 is designed for a 250. im porting my stock head and putting a cam in it and doing valves and things. get the high compression piston, with a 330 kit itll be at like 11to1 and be pretty much the biggest bore you can run with out running race gas.

:huhThe bore size doesn't have much to do with needing race fuel or not. .

If you are really going to go with a very big bore, larger than a 330, you had better plan on having a heavy duty rod installed while you are at it.;)

yea im somewhat thinkin about gettin the 330 four stroke tech kit but its about $600 if you get the kit with the piston,sleeve,etc...(thats about 300) then the other $300 goes to a cam,hd valves springs, hd clutch springs,etc... I want to get this kit but I don't because if I get this kit I will have to race in the c-class instead of the 300 class:ermm:

So?....better to resurrect an old thread than start a new one about the same topic isn't it? :)

Go with a 296. Honestly the power difference between a 330 and a 296/297 is not very drastic. Honestly, I'd consider them about equal if you have proper porting/flow, cam, etc.

And, with a 296 you dont have to buy a new sleeve. ;) So you can spend that little extra on something else, like suspension!

Suspension is huge on a 300ex. Get your frontend up to par. I see you already have a works rear.

I agree.. lol. Either they complain about a repost... or they complain about posting in the old thread. Can have one or the other.. can't have both.. lol. I honestly don't care either way.. lol. Life's too short to worry about silly stuff.

yea i had works dual rates in the front but there completly beat so i got stockers on there now.but how much does it cost to get them rebuilt?

Sounds like the perfect time to get Santo DeRisi to do a rebuild for ya. ;)

Not exactly sure on his prices, but it's a LOT less than new shocks.. lol. And from what I hear his rebuilds are awsome.

He's got pricing on his site.

I'd love to get the Pro Millennium revalve for my Works. ;)

Sean dont worry about a 330 kit. You are already keeping up with the top riders from our class.

i agree with bwamos and get a 296 kit. saving the money on the sleeve, i would get a good drop in cam, then when your ready get the head ported, and some good valve springs
