Jetting.. I know you guys hate these

Im ordering a full HMF next week and a K&N jet kit
The jetkit says works with aftermarket pipes and the hmf site says i need a 200 main jet can you guys tell me what i need to do with these two

will the k&n jet kit include a 200 mainjet like I need and will the
3 1/2 turn out on air fuel and needle in 2nd clip from bottom still the same with my airfilter? please help

go somewhere and pick up a 160 keihin hexhead main. put it in. test it out. you dont need a jet kit, and you sure as hell dont need a 200mj (keihin though, right? or do you have dynojets?)

the jet kit will go up too a 170. this will be too big for just a pipe though. i would buy individual keihin jets too. you will probably save some.

I'm running:

160 main / 42 pilot / Closed Air Box / Needle Clip Down 1 Position

Seems to be running just about stable for me.

I wouldn't spend all the moolah on a jet kit.

So i need to buy a stock 160 kein
or if i get the jet kit the jet just screws in more too make it a bigger size or how does that work

I have a 170dj main in my 440ex. You do not need a 200. It will be way rich. Before I did the 440 I never had to go with a bigger pilot. I see your in va. I'm in Warrenton, VA. If your close, come put it on the dyno and I'll get you dialed in right. What other mods do you have? If you do dynojet, try a 155 or 160.

I have a 2004 400ex that I just put a White Bros E- series, stock head pipe,Dynojet w/170mj and new needle set at #3. Airbox lid removed and UNI foam air filter. Good combo, runs good!

i would start around a 155 DJ with the kit comes in. remember, DJ and keihin numbering technique is different. i would actualy probably run the next size smaller DJ if it was me.

i am not sure what comes in the kit. i would guess 6-8. i actually use keihin jets so i am not too sure.

Lid is off, DJ 170mj,DJ needle jet, UNI air filter,White bros. E-series with the stock headpipe. Just got back from Ocotillo today, this 2004 TRX400EX hauls BUTT!!

when i got my hmf they sent me a 165 which was pretty much perfect for my area but i ended up going up i think later on. Dont remmeber

That sounds about right, was it a Dynojet 165 that came with your pipe?

it would have been a keihin jets, not a dynojet

i recommend smaller to give better upper gear performance.

The kit should have a few different mains and what about a pilot?

I am in the same situation. I am ordering a HMF slip-on with a K&N Filter for my '04 400EX. I was going to order a Dyonjet kit but it sounds like that is unnecessary according to everyone on here. Those will be my only mods (for right now at least). What jetting do I need to get?
