this is my first time jetting anything
this is what it has
416 kit
white bros full exhaust
about ten 1/2 holes drilled into the air box lib

the header pipe was getting red when it would idle, other than that it would run really good. Better than my craptor raptor

it has a 165 main and stock 38 pilot jets
I was told by someone here on this sit to get a 160 main and a 42 pilot jet

I just put it in and it ran for a min then it died, I think it is much to rich now( havnt yet pulled the plug)

the ajustment screw was about 8 turns out I turned it to half that after I put the new jets in.

here is my questions: does turning the screw out make it run leaner or dose it run leaner turning it in????

are the new jets the right size??? or should I just keep the old jets in and make adjustment on the adjustment screw and the clip thing.

I havnt yet messed with the clip yet I dont even know what it is set at.

O I live in Missouri

please help me I will be sitting here until I can get some help with it.
thanks
otherwise sucide my be the only way out

:eek2: :huh :eek2: :huh
If it's the fuel screw on the bottom of the carb in front of the bowl it shouldn't need to be turned out more than 3 turns at the most.

The 160 main and 42 pilot should be a decent starting point and the fuel screw at about 2 - 2 1/2 turns out from lightly seated.

Also 1 turn on the screw = 360 degrees

o ok I will try it again at 2 turns and try that, I wonder if I could put the old jets back in and try puting the the fuel screw in to about 3 turns instead of 8 would that make it run richer

thanks so much for your help

The more turns out the richer.

Are you using Keihin jets or aftermarket jets like Dyno jets?

I don't think it's uncommon for the header to glow at idle when it's dark and cold outside. Check for air leaks & cracks around the carb boots, make sure everything is tight but not too tight.

I gotta go but post a list of all your engine mods so others will be able to add their input.

are you considering a turn out 360 or 180 degrees???

a 42 pilot jet should be fine. if it is glowing at IDLE, turn the mixture screw to around 3 turns out for starters wtih the 42 pilot in.

also, move the needle clip down one position on the needle.

360= 1 turn

I move it out 3 turns

I moved the needle clip down one position ( it now is as far as it will go on the needle I think as rich as it gets.

I will try this

when i said move the needle clip down one position, i meant one down from stock (the fourth down from the top). sorry that i didnt' elaborate. you will be too rich all the way down.
