Once Again the GNCC Series racers head back down to the Carolina’s for another round of racing, but this round will be held further south in Cross Anchor, SC. The trip down from the north is breath taking in sections with some incredible views from the Carolina Mountain tops.

The South Carolina location remains Big Buck for yet another season after speculation before the season started that this long time stop would be removed from the circuit, and I am sure many of the spectators that flock to the creek jump are glad to see it back for atleast another year.

The Klotz Truck and Trailer pulled in Early Friday to get setup before the racers arrived looking for fuel.

Big John was busy directing riders to the appropriate parking locations, and if you found the perfect spot and wondered why no one else would has parked here all day it was probably because any one that attempted to park there quickly notified with a smile that they better find another spot or else :macho

Big John had Jamie & Jasen Bougher in such a tizzy that neither knew which direction to go:confused: , lol

In no time, an empty field was filled with vendors and the Maxxis crew was out cleaning up the grass into front of their rig. I suggested to leave the rake at home and start bringing a lawn mower:D

Joe Borich helped the Tireballs crew with dismounting some tires for Chris Borich.

Senior Ride, John Cunningham Jr, was at the Gear trailer picking out some new Moose riding gear for this weekend, and he also made it possible for me to make it to the races this weekend by doing some extensive repairs to the vehicle, and it now runs better than it ever has since I owned it. Thanks a lot John for everything because guys like you is why I enjoy going to the GNCC races.

The 250R remains alive in GNCC racing with Die-Hard two stroke riders James Wahl and Josh Whitehead sticking with the ATV legends.

After an extremely successful opening round of the Youth Series in Steele Creek with over 70 entries, the youth ATV riders are back at it again for their 2nd round of a mini 5 race series.

Unlike the opening round when the track was forced to be shortened because of the extremely muddy conditions, it looks like the weather will cooperate for a several mile loop through the woods with some challenging sections.

Just like the adults riders, the youth riders headed out on foot and by bicycle to check out the course before the race.

Cody Hill, Walker Fowler, Devon Delucca, and ael Keleman

The track this year is very similar to the track we ran last season except we are going the opposite direction with a few new sections added to the course to keep it interesting. As usual the track conditions will be fairly fast through some well worn in trails through the woods.

Admin
04-15-2005, 10:19 PM
Also, there are several high speed field sections, but riders better pay attention because there are some kicker bumps in some of the field sections that I walked.

Admin
04-15-2005, 10:23 PM
And of course, there is the famous creek jump, but this year the riders will not just have the opportunity to jump the creek once, but twice unless you race in the morning because these bypass sections will be closed to the morning riders to prevent the risk of injury to the unsuspecting novice.

The 1st Creek jump will face the Afternoon riders around the 1.5 miles into the 1st lap, and it has a fairly level take off and landing and could easily be cleared in 1st or 2nd gear, but once they cross the creek they will be forced to pick between several lines up a hill climb with the steepest line being the shortest which should make this an interesting section of the track to watch.

Admin
04-15-2005, 10:29 PM
The 2nd Creek Jump is almost at the same location as last year, but the track is going the opposite direction and the jump take off ramp is huge with the bypass right beside it going through the creek.

The creek looks like a fairly safe way to avoid the leap, but it will quickly became a mud hole after several laps of the morning race, which will make the huge leap more appealing to the afternoon racers than it does now.

A Side View of the Creek crossing to put into prospective the size of the leap.

ATVriders.com decided to recruit Pappy aboard a Honda 70cc to see how difficult the leap across the creek would be, and Pappy(Kenny) quickly geared up and was ready for the task.:macho

Admin
04-15-2005, 10:33 PM
Pappy made the leap look simple as he sailed the 70 through the air over the gap and landed it smoothly :eek2:

Admin
04-15-2005, 10:35 PM
On further inspection, I realized that it actually wasn’t Kenny, but John Ayers, Jr. aboard his KTM clearing the gap, but I am sure I just made your jaw hit your keyboard wondering if that was really Kenny airing out the 70 over the huge gap :D

Admin
04-15-2005, 10:38 PM
After walking the track, it was starting to get dark and everyone starting building their camp fires to help cut some of the chill out of the air with temps expected to get down into the upper 30’s overnight, but it will warm up into the upper 60’s to 70’s tomorrow for a great day for racing.

Admin

Finally, over at the Moose trailer the final three pokers players were wrapping up their poker game for some great moose prizes, so if you missed out on the fun at this round be sure to keep an eye on the schedule for an upcoming event.

Check back tomorrow for more updates throughout the day with live race updates.

Special Thanks goes to Mrs. Admin for doing all the live coverage while Pappy and I were out capturing all the action and boy did we get some incredible shots :D

I have been on the road all weekend and it is midnight, and I am still driving home from the GNC Event and I have to be at my 40 Hour a week day job by 8:30AM tomorrow:eek: I probably won't see my bed till 3AM, and I have been providing the GNC updates and photos while driving home so if you are traveling on I-95 watch out for the weaving Motorhome , what ever it takes to get you guys the best ATV Coverage possible.

The sky would be the limit if I didn't have to work a fulltime job to keep a roof over my head, but things are moving in the right direction with the support of many of the fine sponsors on ATVriders.com and all of those reporters, moderators, and members that keeps this site growing everyday.

I thank everyone of you that are reading our race reports and check back daily for more updates.

Great job on the coverage! Did anyone see a female rider flip going up the hill after the big creek crossing in the morning race? There were two lines up that hill and I was on the left and saw somebody flip to the right of me. There were a lot of spectators so I continued to race. I was wondering if that person was OK.
