Hey guys... I've been looking around, and I've ridden a few quads, adn I've been thinking a few things... Anyways, I would like to ask 1 question first. The 450r puts out about 37 hp they say? Is this true? Also, about how much hp would a STOCK raptor have? I dragged one againsted my piped 400, and it was close. It seemed like I could take off faster, but he would take me toward 3rd and 4th gear. Maybe that ios how he took off. I take off very aggressive, but don't short shift. Once I hear the motor get within 1,000 or so r's before I shift. Is this too high? It's got a hmf with quiet core, jetted, but still a tad rich on the top, because it was tuned for winter. Anyways, I was lookign at the 450r, and how would it compare to the z400? I rode one of those not too long ago. It felt okay, but I still felt more "in" on my 400ex. The ex feels like it hugs you in. Finally, how is the power delivery of the 450r? The z400 hit real hard liek halfway through the powerband. Is the r like this? I didn't really like that in the tight sand trails, especially when I would hit it, expecting the power to come on smooth, but instead, it builds up slow, then really rips. Thanks, and I'm sorry if it is all jumbled!

on a 400ex, you should be short shifting, they make peak HP well before the rev limiter

the 450r has alot more than either the ex or the z400 but it does not have a hard hit anywhere in the powerband so it is pretty controlable. it does like to wheelie too much, though.

the 450r is 27hp stock...also you cant compare a z400 with a 450r it doesn't come close to the 450r...also it does ride a wheelie easy but it doesn't do it on its own..a raptor im guessing your talking about the 660...comes up very easly and you have to do alot to it for drag..it is 40hp stock ..but my bro has one decked out ..and at the drags it gets smoke by alot of 400ex's and that doesn't matter who is driving it... your best bet is the 450r or the yfz450 i have ridin both and there the best unless you can get your hands on a decked 250r and you know with a honda you have a reliable quad good luck!!

I say the same, those things are awesome! I'd trade my Banshee for one because it'd be more practical for me.

Baker - where in Wisconsin are you?
