sized sprockets?

What size sprockets is everyone riding? I currently am using 12/40 but thinking about increasing the rear to 42. I ride tight woods and the stock was way too high. Before I would get caught between 1st and 2nd. Now I am in 2nd/3rd. I am hoping 42 rear keeps me in third.

Dropping the front down a tooth was a night and day difference. What is everyone using?

I went back to stock 13/40 gearing after my 686, I am actually considering going to a 14 front, I race XC races and trail ride with mine.

My riding buddy went down 1 tooth on the front and he loves it. he has a 720

I'm about to go to a 12/40 combo for fast trail and field riding, I've heard a lot of people that are really happy with that combo.

I run a 12/38 for tight agressive trails. I use to run a 13/41 until I changed to a 250R rearend. There is nothing worse than being geared wrong for the riding conditions. The best thing I could have ever done is to keep a 12, 13, 14 and a 38, 39, 40, 41, 42 on hand. I just quickly change them based on the riding conditions for that day and have even changed at lunch to different ratio for the afternoon. Good luck.

Bronson, what brand sprocket did you use? Most don't make any under 40tooth for the Raptor. Are you using the stock sprocket hub?

after reading your thread i found out Sprocket Specialists makes under 40 tooth rear sprockets!

sorry for the dealyed response. you know to tell you the truth i have no clue what brand they are. I buy them all from sledpartsguy on ebay. they are all steel and panted black. since i have a honda 250r read end in my raptor, i use different sprockets than stock raptors use. email me and i bet he has many in stock that will fit your application. good luck.

I use 15/40 on mine, but I don't ride trails.
I ride mostly open road. This gives me lots of top speed.
