Quads vs. Dirtbikes

Hi, I am doing a project for school comparing quads against dirtbikes. I would like to know what you guys think what pros and cons each have and which one you prefer.

haha, yea thats one of the reasons i switched to quads. crashed way too much on bikes and havent crashed bad at all on quads.:D

I keep it on 4 wheels now. I've had too many wrecks on dirtbikes. You'll die faster on a dirtbike! That wouldn't be good.

Great, that makes me feel good.... :( I have never even came off the quad. I have been very close though.

I like the extra two wheels. They do wonders for me. A good argument for the bikes is that they are a lot less tiring on an mx track. Since they weigh a lot less than a quad.

I like quads better. I like how they handle better, I can corrner tighter on a quad than a dirtbike. But as a plus for the dirtbikes they do have better power to wieght ratio, and they are more accepted in racing. But quads are way better in sand. And most people know how much fun riding in sand is.

ive had both. i prefer quads. but i would love to ride one of the newer 250 thumpers. i think it kinda depends on what ya start on to

I like them both equaly, But this poll will be a bit lopsided, look at the webpage, www.ATVRIDERS.com

I say that a bike has it's pros with more suspension travel, and a Bit more forgiving. A good rider can switch from a quad, to a dirt bike and be comfortable within a few quick rides.


Quads pros are in really rough courses with alot of rocks or nasty mud, The quads keep you off the ground , But u have 4 tires on the ground instead of two whitch makes for a rougher ride. Id say a quad takes its toll on your body quicker than a bike.

If u want my vote im going with a quad, Cuz i havent really ridin a DB in a while now.

I have both also. I ride and race both of them. I am better on the quad then the bike. I am going to ride the bike more this summer so I can get better on it. I can plaque on the quad but the bike I am way off of the mark. They both are a blast.

I'll be the odd ball! I vote for the DB only because that's what i started on and I just enjoy it more. Quads have there place and if i'm out with the wife and friends that's what I'll be on. But when it comes to racing I'll be on two wheels everytime.

Dirtbikes are better on the track but i find that they suck for trail riding lol.

i like dirtbikes MUCH better than quads, but i continue to race quads because i like how the people are in quad racing. im always atleast 5-10 seconds faster on a bike than a quad, always have been, prob always will be, do i care? nope. lol. i actually prefer Quads for racing motocross, and bikes for fast woods racing (theres so many places u can go on a bike that a quad could not in the tight places) JMO i didnt vote cuz i like both so much i couldnt choose

I actually started on bikes. Raced them for 8 years, then hopped onto quads. I find the quads safer, but no where near as capable on an mx track. I'll pick a bike on an mx track anytime, but I'll take the quad over the bike for offroad xc style racing. I'm still faster in the woods on a bike than on a quad, but again I'm alot safer on a quad.

I do agree though that a quad pounds your body to death compaired to a bike.

Racing potential = motorcycle :macho

Saftey/fun level = Quad :D

Atv's all the way, not that i dont like dirtbikes cause i love watchin supercross and freestyle but i prefer quads

you are asking members on a quad forum what do think they will say,id deffinetly say 90% of these members would say quads so it doesnt really matter its up to you
If you want a dirtbike go to a dirtbike forum
If you want a quad stay on this forum cus u will want a quad:p

It is all depending what I am riding. If I am riding in the sand I'll take a decent R over a bike any day. On the trails though I like the bke better because you only have to pick one line for the tires instead of two lines with quads ie(rutted trails trying to bridge the ruts).

i agree with most of you guys out there, i love quads and im not sure if i would buy another dirtbike again. im not trying to decide what to get, in fact an 05 450r is sitting in my garage right now!:D thanks for all the replies guys

I was thinking about buying a dirtbike before I bought the Raptor. I'm glad I didn't I rode a CR125 before I did, and I just wasn't feeling it.
