I am planning on buying a 05 450 and was wondering what my first mod should be. I am thinking a pipe, what kind of power gains should I expect. I heard it is pretty significant. Also, are there after market seats? The stock one is like sitting on a 2x4. Thanks guys. Don't know to much about 4 strokes, always had banshee's. Time to change.

You wont notice the seat after a cpl of rides. Do the pipe, cam mod and jetting all at once, its a totally different beast and all you are paying for is the pipe and jets.

after a while the seat will soften up. the first thing i would do would be the pipe

What kind of pipe? I usually ride in pits and some mx, but I also trail ride as fast as I can. And cost of pipe. Thanks

They made the seats a little bit softer for 05, so you should be fine there, as far as the pipes, i know curtis sparks is a good one, probbly be about 500 for the whole system, unless you could find o good used one, but its stainless steel, so it will last.

I would do a slip on , jetting, remove the airbox lid if its dry conditions and maybe a k& n or uni filter. i've the gytr exhaust and jet kit, it will probably cost you about $350. you get a big power gain without tearing into the motor for cam changes.

My buddy has a YZF and he has the Fatboy 4 pipe, it sounds good and he blows the Honda 450 with a pipe out of the water.
