another name for the pilot jet is slow jet. have them pull up a schematic on the 400ex carb, then look at the bottom of their screen through the parts names. find "JET, SLOW". it might even have "#38" next to it. tell them you want another one of those, but in a #42.

if they need anymore explaining than that they ought to be fired.

You did not make a mistake removing the choke... Its just a jet man. Dont let the incompetence of the people at the dealership (nothing new) discourage you. You can pretty much get that jet from anywhere, so if they cant help you, screw 'em...

i could sell u my choke, i have everything in a baggie. i installed a 42 pilot and removed my choke, spent some time fine tuning the carb and it starts and idles right off the bat. much better than before where i'd have to mess with the choke and let it warm up!!! :macho

Sounds like the the employees at that dealership are idiots. If they don't know what the pilot jet for a 400EX is, then maybe they shouldn't be in the business. Don't they have a computer that tells them the part number?

I'd go elsewhere with your business if I was you.

You didn't make a mistake taking the choke out. I did the same mod and I think it runs great.

they have tried that on me but they kept asking me like model #s and bunch of other q's so i went up and just asked for a #42 pilot jet and got one. they are definitely worth it, on very cold days i still dont use the choke.

what benefit is there to removing the white snorkel?

Will removing the choke work well with a stock motor? (or is it recommended for a modded motor?)
I have a stock motor (with k&n) and have been thinkin about doing this

There is no benefit in removing the white snorkel! Leave it its not hurting anything.

i just dont get why people remove it> isn't it better attached? doesn't it suck in more outside air?

I take my snorkel off in the summer and put it back in the winter. I got a snorkel blockoff plate from Nacs that plugs the hole in the airbox. Just less clutter under the seat, and when running no airbox lid in the summer like me, no point having it on....
