I have an '05 400Ex and am stuck on what skid plates to get. I do mostly sand and dirt riding, nothing too serious like racing. I want to buy chasis & swingarm skids & a-arm guards.;

C&D recommended me the PRM skids and they look good to me, but I have also heard AC's and others are good. Price is also a big factor, so what is really the best protection for the money? From what I saw on Parts Direct & CD the PRM'S are more expensive than the AC's, but I can afford them, Just not sure which are better. I appreciate any advice!

i think maier makes some that are plastic. really hard stuff that will make you 'slide' over obstacles instead of scrape and scarr up your metal ones. pretty cheap if i remember.

Go with PRM or Pro Armor. AC skids are just plain weak in comparison, not to mention the lousy fitment. Go compare the two products side by side thats what I did, the choice will be easy. PRM or Pro Armor and you can't go wrong. I ended up going with Pro Armor simply because all 3 items came out to a cheaper price. Make sure to get the .190 A-Arm/Chassis and .250 swingarm for PRM. Pro Armor those are the standard sizes :macho

Oh I have an 05 400ex also BTW and I have unearthed some boulders as I ride in extremely rocky terrain. My skids are holding up awesome.

thanks everyone, just ordered the PRM's along with some other stuff, ac pro peg ners, kn with outerwears, and a p-brake blockoff. C&D I ordered from, they are great people over there. Especially since I was calling like everyday asking about the skids LOL.

PRM all the way. Much better built, and will fit perfect. Plus the full chassis has more mounting spots. I had AC before, they are junk compared to the PRM...
