Ok, I have a choice on the piston Im gonna buy to replace my blown one in my 426. I have the option of a 13.1 JE or Wiseco. I am wanting to go JE, but dont have any experience with them and have always used Wiseco. Anyone use the JE and have an opinion on them as far as quality, craftsmanship and durability? Thanks...

JE IMO is better

JE was bought out by wiseco, but wiseco still uses the "JE" name, so either way you go, your getting a wiseco piston. wiseco however has greatly improved their quality and focus on 4 stroke atv pistons in the past 2 years. for example, their "12:1" piston may be equivilant to other manufacturers 10:1, but their pistons now are nearly works of art:D

Man, I really wanted to branch out and try something other than a wiseco this time around, but I guess theres no fightin it. Im sure there has to be some difference between the wiseco and JE pistons. So if I bought a JE or a Wiseco piston, theyd look and actually be exactly the same? Seems that wiseco should just change the JE name to wiseco if its just a wiseco exact piston in a JE box...

Im looking to get an ACTUAL 13:1 piston, not something that is just prorated and runs much lower. I was satisfied with my 12:1 wiseco, but for all I know, that was a raging 10:1 engine I was feeling all along, huh.... Sheesh...

they are still useing JE Pistons tho,, and JE is true to compression

i think if you want to try something different(like i do)try one of those Arias pistons.i see them in a lot of hi performance applications, you may pay more but...:)

where do you people come up with this stuff :huh

Yes wiseco did buy out JE, but that's all, there still two completly different pistons, all wiseco did was buy the JE name, none of the processes or products have changed, there still two different pistons and as far as which piston would I go with, none other than the brand Laz from GT thunder sold me

Go with wiseco! Best pistons made IMO! Thats what all my family uses in there engines. I have a 11:1 comp weisco and I am actually running a little over it cuase I had my cylinder and head decked .010. People think they can just slap a piston in and get the compression that it says on the box! You need to make sure yours exactly TDC, the valves are adjusted correctly, and several other things. I obtained my compression ratio via claying and soldering the the engine FYI.

How does that Stroker run Ugly?

JE's are also one brand that will make custom pistons where wiseco wont.

probably slow since he has a JE piston. i don't think a bike can be quick unless you run a ross like me.

Thats what perhaps the average joe would believe :o however that is a completly custom cut piston not found on store shelves............. now don't that sound special LMAO :D

But I think I may have you whooped with the added stroke

Ulgy, what makes you think it's a "custom cut" piston?

I have this piston as well and Ugly is right, you can't buy this piston from anybody; it was specifically designed for the 452 stroker kit. It is a "custom" piston because it utilizes a short skirt and a relocated wrist pin to make sure the piston doesn't go slamming into the head as a result of the +7mm stroke.

LOL, Rico, if finances permit, I could see you runnin' the stroker in the future next time you need a rebuild since you already have that 416SS. I'm sure you know what kind of crazy tricks Laz has up his sleeve.....

Since our 400's are now "old school" in comparison with the new 450's, having an EX that can whomp on the new competition makes me all the more proud that i'm still riding an EX :macho
