well, there pretty much the same exact thing as a 300ex. Nice quads. From the picture it looks like it has works front shocks, and possibly a pipe...and nerf bars and tires...looks pretty good. If it runs, go for it. There very good quads.

Yeah, I guess I should have mentioned he said it had a DG pipe and the nerf bars. I also thought the shocks looked like works.

Nice..

What all can you do to them for performance that is relitivly cheap, I dont want to throw a whole lot of money into it, if I get it.

Anything you want. Theres alot of stuff out there: air filter, exhaust, a-arms, big bore kits, whatever you can think of basically.

the 250x is about equal in speed to a blaster

what about size? bigger than a blaster?

yes, the 250x is bigger in size than a blaster, and has slightly better handling, especially in tight woods, though the blaster is lighter weight, being that a blaster is a 2-stroke, rather than a 4-stroke. a 250x will fit most people well, and has average suspension, that will soak up most rough spots in normal riding conditions. the 250x also has reverse, which is a plus in the woods, much like a 300ex, b/c they are practically the same thing, except the 250x uses a kick start, instead of electric.

Not bad little quads. Dependable, and will run forever as long as you keep the oil changed and don't wreck too much.

There are LOTS of upgrades available for them, but beyond a simple pipe and filter, they start to get pretty expensive. Really expensive if you don't do your own work. In all reality, a Blaster is much easier and cheaper to upgrade.

All in all, I can't think of any real bad aspects to the 250X, except it's size. It's more of a beginner quad, so it doesn't have a ton of power, or really great suspension. I keep one as a backup quad in case I ever have a friend visiting from out-of-town.

Thats what It would be, Im about to buy a dirtbike, so I would probably ride it more than the 250x, just use it for mud, rain, snow..

if you have a 250x thats older than a 91 i suggest you change your front hubs because they are a different pattern than what a honda is.....i had a 92 250x for a while...i know something was wrong with the tranny cuz she chewed up clutches and i wont replacing them with cheap-o clutches either i was buyin 89 dollar barnette dirt digger clutches from nacs racing, the stock bearing carrier on 250x sucks ***...id recomend changing that immediately...i know my valves on my bike fell and i had to have the topend replaced with new rockers, new head, new piston, rings, and all that good stuff...i had to replace the inner clutch hub and everything....this was a 92 250x btw other than them small problems i had she ran like a champion...only other thing id suggest...is to remove any big baloony tires you might have on the rear...i know my friend had a 87 250x with realtors on it....and he beat them damn bearings out about every 3 or 4 weeks....oh yea....and relocate the stock rear brake rezzy because the heat from the exhaust will melt the rezzy leaving you with no brakes

oh yea keep your decompression cable lubed up beceause if that cable sticks and wont work...they are hard to kick...thats why im kinda iffy on buyin me a 450r because i had my fair share of kicking a quad and gettin busted in the shin, or it kicking back and jamming my ankle, or gettin stuck on hills and stalling...thats why im hopin 06 450r will be e-start...that e-button done spoiled me...

I have a 91 250x and its had the clutch replaced, bearing carrier replaced, and the motor rebuilt only once in its 14 years of beating. She runs like a CHAMP!

maybe mine was a dud, but i replaced bearings alot...too much even...i replaced clutches as much as i replaced bearings...i never got the money to hook it up..she remained stock because every time i got money to hook it up i either had to buy new bearings, or new clutches...only thing aftermarket it had was a Disfunctional Goods (DG) exhaust that i traded a guy my stocker for....

the bearings/carrier and clutch have only been replaced once. I usually grease my bearings every couple months though and change the oil/filter alot!, i actually did both of those today. You must of had a lemon
