I am sure you are a decent guy Mike; although I did feel like you were being a little bit of a “sore loser” over the loss at Mud Nationals. If I loose I loose, bottom line, and you won’t hear me say anything about it. I don’t want to portray a negative image to the children and other riders coming up in this sport and give them the idea that being a poor sport or a sore loser is acceptable.

I can fully understand where you are coming from and that you might not see it how I see it. Like you said you were undefeated before Nationals, and I can understand where that might get anyone a little raw.

I voiced my opinion (like I always do), you complained, and I got banned. That’s how life goes though I suppose. Sometimes people just don’t want to hear what I have to say…

I am more than willing to give you another shot, but just be forewarned that I am very “straight forward” as some call it, and I will call people out if I think they are acting how they shouldn’t. I am completely honest whether it gets me into trouble or not. Sometimes that’s a downfall, but I wish more people were completely honest and truthful about what they thought.

MMG... despite what it may have sounded like (prior)... I'm a pretty down to earth guy & I compete in every possible type of ATV competition... you can bet that using my "jack of all trades" quad, that I get beaten badly in lots of different competitive venues, by purpose built quads...

my best ever finish in hare scramble racing, for instance has been a 3rd place... trust me, I've raced alot of them, but only one 3rd place... but no DNF's, even though in 2 different races, I rolled the quad end over end, & in one, the quad landed on me at the bottom of the hill... then to make matters worse, it was on the 1st lap of a 2 hour hare scramble race... lets just say, that I tasted the agony of defeat, but mustered up enough of my competitive spirt, to finish the race... very painfully but finish it I did...

in drag racing, I do well, racing utility quads, but I'd rather jump up a class, than try to squeeze down into a class I don't really belong in... if i'm dragging in the open big bore class, my best finish has been a 3rd place there as well... this year we've done a few more mods, & I hope to do better, but my hopes are pretty thin, drag racing quads that are 1/2 as heavy, & running 200 hp snowmobile & motorcycle motors... even duing the race that I got 3rd in the open class, it was by finishing all my races, through a very long day of competitions... lots of faster quads had to break down through out the day, for me to finish 3rd...

as far as mud racing, I used to do lots of Jeep mud bog racing, & though I did well, & have some very spectacular wins, I again was resolved to have a vehical that could compete in all venues, & still ( at the time ) be driven back & forth to work... so often I was middle of the pack occasionally placing good enough to trophy... one short story about the Jeeps... I went to one mud bog race, & allowed my wife to compete with it, using my "small" tires, then I ran the mid sized class... she didn't place using my smaller non mud specific tires, & I got a 3rd place with my Super Swampers... well the mud bog got over too quickly, so they went around & solicited all the racers to pay $5.00 each, & go for a winner take all race... well I didn't want to change those ( probably 100's of pounds tires, with all the mud ), so I said I'd run, but not my wife... well after they went around to all the racers, the asked if anyone else wanted to, even in the croud... finally they came back up to me, & told me, since it's all the classes combined, that my wife could run, with my big tires on... well OK, I relented, & she signed up, last... well they worked their way back through the classes, starting with the little tires... of course after the trucks had been in the pit with the big 44's, they all got stuck... finally it was my turn to run, about mid way through the line up for the last cash race... I was the 1st to make it through, & made it with a pretty good time... following me, again, several didn't make it through... but as they were getting into the bigger tires, some trucks begain to make it through the pit, but the mud was thick, & they were wallowing through, but not beating my time... just when it looked like I was going to win, it was my wifes turn...again, after the "big trucks", as she signed up at the end... the mud was very thick & rutted, & I told her to line up stradling the deep ruts, in a different spot than the other trucks had run... the starter questioned her as to if she was sure she wanted to line up there... ( she really enjoys mud racing, the trucks back then, & the quads now )... she replyed all exited... "F'n right"... well she ran her run, made it through, & beat my time by 1/10th of a second... collecting the cash...

so...MMG, after all, of that... I hope you got a chuckle out of it, I have tasted defeat, even dished out in heaping helpings, by my wife, who wasn't afraid to tell EVERYONE ... but I do have a good amount of expirience ( more than most I compete against mud racing ), & have been competing in organized ATV mud races for almost 5 years now... I still enjoy winning... but competing is the most fun of all... I hope we can get along in the future... thanks...Mike

BROOKS... I got the holeshot, & actually lead for 1 whole lap... I think thats not bad for a big 'ol "ute" pretty out of it's element... & the worst I placed that day was 4th place, & that was in both consolation races that had 9-10 quads in them )... & that was the most dangerous form of racing I've ever done... it was kind of like sprint car racing, without a wing or roll bar... on those big concy races, quads were flying everywhere in the 1st corner...

one more pic from that day... the quad just to the outside of me, was a custom 250R chassis, with a 500 quadzilla motor, & though we had 1st met that day, & pitted next to each other, he was SOOO frustrated that he could never get around me, in any of the races we matched up in...

no transmission is fine. Rear end is getting worked on right now. everything else is fine besides a couple minor things.

450... I used to have a head light mounted to the visor, on that helmet, & the spot weld on the plastic broke one day... & I just never replaced it... BTW... I do quite a bit of drag racing, & figured that without the visor, I have less wind resistance... well maybe anyway...

MMG... I'm really going to have to get down there to your event... especially if you keep offering those "big cash prizes"...I'd love to this year, but work is killing me right now... I can't even keep the grass at home mowed, or put the finishing touches on my new enclosed trailer... I've been through 2 different days of plant audits, & in a small manufacturing plant, I'm the sole administrative person.... so I've been burried in new paperwork, at a time when I could barely keep up with the day to day paperwork... it has severly cut into my ATV Forum time, as well as my ATV maintenance... I still have a water pump seal out on T-Rex, that has been out since before the Nats in April... I'm still nursing it along...

... here is a pic from one of the last pulls I attended a few weeks ago... I was able to outpull a Kubota diesel 4 X 4 utility dump vehical, & a 700 Sportsman with a set of tracks... but did get edged out in one class by a few feet, by a well set up Brute Force, so I took 3 - 1st places, & one 2nd place at this pull...

... the trophies are cool, but it means more to me, to have beaten the 1,700 lb utility vehical, & the tracked sportsman, both of which I would think would be very challenging pullers...

pulling in the 1,700 lb class, against the Kubota... I had all the weight I had with, on the quad, even threw in my heaviest tool box... still 50 lbs lighter than the Kubota...

Heres a Scrambler 500 4x4 that I just got yesterday. Its loaded with HPD primary clutch, HPD aggressive clutch kit, HPD super button kit, MSR handle bars, FMF Mega Max 2 (not in pics but installing it soon) Mud sharks rear, Bear Claws front, lots of other stuff. VERY FAST!!!

Trust me, this quad is no longer clean. With in 1 hour of these pics, it was covered in mud...LOL
