The guys you are racing must flat out seriously suck. Get a YFZ man
would a piped yfz with all suspension mods, be competitive?

I went trail riding with a raptor 686 and a 450r punched out to 525. My modded 400EX had no problems keeping up.
In fact it doesn't take much time to realize that it is not the machine but who has more talent and especially who has the most endurance.
I dont care what you are riding; if the other rider is in great shape and you are not, you are going to lose. YOU CAN NOT RACE IF YOU ARE WORN OUT, end of story.

Good luck!I am right there with ya, either dump alot of money into my 400 & still get spanked or buy a 450.I am leaning toward the YFZ450.Turn the cam, pipe it and run with most everything. All that for $7000 or $8000.It's hard to decide, but after riding a 450 it was hard to get back on my 400!

I think i'm gonna go with the yfz, because of the electric start and the fact that i dont want to mod it out that much.... pipe, nerfs, bumper, maybe rims and tires and thats all

youve answered your own question twice now. you want electric start, and the yfz fits your style. We dont need Vanna white to turn the letters to know what the answer is.
alright now i just gotta make some money and bring my grades up a lil bit:)

get a 250R. They are cheap these days and WILL give you the MOST bang for your buck. I would like to see a YFZ outrun a 310 or 330 PV. Heck my 265 can outrun em.:o
Too bad I cant ride tho:blah: the quad might actually go fast if I did

you really can't go wrong with either 450 but if your not going to do too many mods stick with the yfz, it's a great bike.:eek2: :eek2:
