Looking for a wide power range with upper 30 to 40 HP

I want to have a wide power range and about 40HP out of a 400EX what mods would give me that much power and still leave for a little more improvment?

LERaptor660R , Are there any good places to ride in Palm Bay???I live in Cocoa and there are a few good places ,just ready to run new ground. Up here there is a new sand pit that they are digging out , and a few local trails.I heard there was a good place where you're at....take care

sorry I'm talking about a 400EX.
As for places to ride down heretheir is a nice MX track about 30min's away a really nice place to ride is the "Compound" it has about every type of terain; Mud, hills, trails, tracks, some sand pits. at 5A their is a cool place to ride it is the only exit to scottsmoor exit 82 go west their is a burnt down building park their and their is a trail that goes back they have a goo trail system (Reminds me of a small size ocala) people pump water from a river into a mud pit to play around. I'm going to be up their this sunday for a club ride.

I would say a 416 piston with either 11 to 1 or 12.5 to 1 compression. Then get a pipe, maybe the lrd pipe or the x6 from sparks. Lastly throw in a fairly aggressive cam like a tc mx cam, a gt thunder cam or even one of those new hott cams.

Just to add to what kabd said. You could do some head work, like a port/polish, larger valves, 3-way valve job, etc. Remember that if you go over 11:1 compression, you'll need to use race fuel, so that might be something to consider. Also, my friend just got an LRD pipe for his Raptor, and it woke it up big time, so that would be a good pipe to look into.
