View Full Version : BEST Sprocket setup for Drag?

just curious to know what is everyones opinion on best gearing for Drag(100yds)... front and rear ... also specify for 300ex or 400ex? or whatever you have it on..

yea i want to know that too. some tell me that you should go with a 16front 36back. i dont think soo? but i want to find that out too man

im running a 14/39(300ex)...its the only other then stock i have run and it is way better... with the 16/36 does it wind out really quick??

You're thinking of it the wrong way around. 16/36 gearing on a 400EX will give it lots of top speed and much longer legs between gears. A 14/39 setup on a 400EX for example would only be suited to hillclimbs and would rev out much too quickly. Remember for top speed (drag racing), you want a higher front sprocket, and a lower rear sprocket.

Drag racing is not all about top speed, its how quick you can get from point A to point B in a straight line. 100 yards is not that long of a drag.

well i don't know about a 400 but on a 300 it works good..also where im at we only run 300ft...drags...its not about top end or we would start out and go til the other ones cant go anymore lol ..not running mile drags

im not sure on a 400 ...i know alot of people talk about putting 16 on ...
