Actuly your wrong chad502ex. You have to run the whole 400ex rear end for this to work. I have a jb+1 swingarm, axis shock, and rpm axle off a 400ex. Everything bolted up fine!

wouldn't be the last time i'd be wrong either..... heh

but i was thinking that the swing arm pivot bolt and engine cases would be entirely different- so how can they, huh?

I think the linkages might be different but I cant remember. I also have walsh a-arms and shocks off a 400ex. I put spacers in the a-arms so they could fit. My quad runs really smooth! All my axis shocks were valved for the 450r when I had them rebuilt.

I looked at mine and my bros, and they measured out pretty dang close(for squeezing in there and getting the best measurements that I could). I think they will work, I tought of putting a stock 450r swinger on my 400 because they are like 1/2 to 1" longer.

I can tell you that a 400ex shock will not work on the 450r with or without the 400ex likage. I tried this and know someone that tried this. It will bolt up but the stroke is all wrong. It will raise the heck out of the 450 and if your jumping it will bottom out. Never tried it with the 400ex swing arm though. That may work but don't know. Would have to see it to believe.

Well believe it because the whole rear end on my 450r is off a 400ex. Your right, at first it did sit alittle funny and acted alittle wierd and also bottomed very easily when you jumped it. I had no problem with the front shocks they rode perfect. The rear shock was sent out to get revalved to the 450r's specs and that fixed all the problems!

They probably had to change to stroke too because the shock is too tall and maybe even the shaft. But you can't take a 400ex shock and bolt it up without sending it off and having it made to the r's specs. But I'm glad to know it can be done because I have a 400ex pep that I need to get set up for the 450.

Kilabanshee, who did your shock for you. I've called several people to get my pep set up for my 450r and they said it can't be done. Basically the whole shock has to be changed. Will cost major bucks. Would be easier just to buy a 450r shock.:(

Here is a picture of the walsh a-arms off a 400ex. I'll take pictures of the a-arms more closely next time I'm at the shop. Its sitting up in my friends garage waiting to be finished. Still waiting on some parts....
