Honestly, I don't know, im sure there is a way you can do that. But my question is to you, is... why would it matter if you could start in reverse or not? (not trying to be rude or anything) just curious

I suppose it could be easy to stall in tight situations in reverse, and it would be a little bit easier and quicker to not have to go back to neutral to start it, then back to reverse.

Yes it is quite easy to stall in reverse and once it has stalled you have to put it in netural or first to start and then back in reverse.
To me this just doesn't make sense, if it is a safety feature what is it keeping me safe from, seems to me all the hassle you go through to restart and put back in reverse would be kinda unsafe.

Actually there is a way. I recently put a white bros rev kit on my 05 400ex and it starts in reverse and goes alot faster in reverse. I didnt even know that about it until i stall in reverse and tried to start it. Kinda cool!

Or you could just untape the wire harness just above the front sprocket. The one with the wires from the neutral and reverse switch. Then clip the green wire that goes toward the back of the bike. Don't clip it before it splits though as you'll loose your reverse light altogether. One goes to the start overide and the other goes to the light. Then retape and you good to go.
