2001 raptor

i am selling my 250ex and going to a 660 raptor i can handle it i have ridden a worked 450r and a worked yfz but the ? is do there transmissions go in the 2001 models and he put new sprockets and chains and holeshots all the way around it for 2400 what do u think let me know

i got an 01 and put about 6 grand in it and my trans just went witch sucks *** but its way dif. then a 450..way more bottoem end grunt but not as good handleing..but i love mine

If the trans screws up you can upgrade to the 02 trans for around $800, with you doing the work yourself.

Why get a raptor? You can get 400exs, z's, kfx's, ect in good shape for that price and basically everything about them is better besides the engine power. I mean if alls your going to be doing is drag racing or something then go for it but its not an mx or trail quad really.

The 2001 models have the bad transmissions, avoid them as much as possible. I'd wait and look for an 02 or newer, the 01 isnt worth the headache and cost.

yeah i wouldent risk that,, that is a low dollar tho

i'd stay away from craptors period (the 01's are nightmares")..they all have problems really tho, look at used 400ex's or z400's

yea there right i know from expereince i own a 01 and i replaced the tranny and starter the first month i had and then after i did that i couldnt stop spending money on it but thats my fault i needed all the aftermarket stuff so now i have like 4000 in aftermarket and have it for sale for 3500 but after you replace the tranny and starter you'll never have a problem with them again for many years

Well, your on a honda site... so alot of people on here will diss the Raptor. Anyway, im sure you will be very happy with a Raptor. There are plenty of 01's out there that have not had any tranny problems. However, I would still try and find a newer one. I love my raptor, there are several things i like better about it than my 416ex. But you should also look at a 400ex, they are a great machine and you could get one for real cheap... just my opinion

p.s. you should get this raptor...

Other than that, its a turbo, anything turbo is sweet, so that thing must RIP.
