This is on a 400ex, I have honed the cylinder and reringed and it still does it. After some searching I found that it could be an oiling problem. While idleing I removed the check bolt below where the oil lines go into the clutch side cover and oil was spitting out. Could this be a bad oil pump?? It is oiling the top end well so I am not sure what it could be.

you may have too much oil

i would drain the oil and put the reccomended amount in

I have tried that 3 times, changed brands of oil and filters. Only put 2 quarts in it.

Had it happen to me too. The problem was the rings not sealing and allowing too much compression into the crankcase. Pain in the arse having oil all over your swinger.

well, i guess i can help you out on this one... I am 18 and own Big Bubba's a Speed shop and customization shop in Eunice,La I have 2 400ex's that i drag race only... I specialize in 400ex motors... and very well known in Louisiana although i just started this business... your problem is not with the rings or your hone job.. but with your cylinder... it is not in perfect round... it is egg shaped from either the machinest that put it in... but you should heat the whole cylinder then slip it in and let it cool down rather than most that press it in... hope this helps you out and if you need anything call my cell phone at 337-580-9354 leave a voice mail...
thanks,
Bobby (Bubba) Arnaud
