Well the last time an ITP race was ran here was back in December. Race 1 was rained out and race 2 was at Race Town. So here we are at Glen Helen, today we will be running on what they call the back track/old timers track. They call it that because it's a very mellow track. No real jumps or technical areas. It's all about the HP(Horse Power). The track looked good and so did the weather. Turnout was pretty good so lets go racing...

The Pros were once again split into two groups for quailifying. Tony Munio Grabbed the holeshot in the first race, only to make a wrong turn. As you look at the photo you see Tony #66 making a sharp right. You were suppose to go straight a little farther then turn. #11 Eichner was right behind him. Dana Creech was on the far right.

Tony leads Eichner #11, Creech #52 and Machado #61 as the come through a downhill S turn.. Tony would lead for a couple laps before Eichner would get by.

Creech tried to catch Eichner but just couldn't get him.. Eichner rode a great quailifier.

Qualifier two wasn't as exciting... Two time ITP winner Jeremy Schell on his freshly preped ALBA YFZ450 pulled the holeshot and well, thats all there was...

Well the race goes on with or without the camera ready. While I was grabbing a new battery They started without me! As they come down the S curve/hill you can actually get a good look at the turn at the bottom. It sweeps around and goes right back up! And look out front. Jeremy Schell #14 takes the holshot. Creech in second followed by McClure, Eichner and Nelson.

As Jeremy comes across the finish line jump, he is starting to increase the gap between himself and Creech.

McClure running in the third spot right behind Dana knows the rest of the pack is not far behind.

Dustin Nelson #94 who started around the fifth spot has worked his way around Doug Eichner #11 and now sets his sites on #29 of McClure!

Doug doesn't run too many MX races, and he mainly does the Baja races and the Worcs races where he sets Blistering paces for everyone to follow. He does this for the exercise. Running fourth aint't to bad...

In the fifth spot is Darrell Patton. Darrell is still trying to workout some issues in the handling department.

Here Dana has made a little ground on Jeremy and tries to go to the inside, but he isn't going to be able to pass the hick there!(hahaha)

Meanwhile Nelson takes the third spot from McClure. By now Dana has dropped back letting Jeremy take a breather. Nelson now see's that Dana is within striking distance..

BAM. Next time around guess what? Nelson is now in second! This guy charges very hard. At the last ITP in Adelanto he had a couple problems, tangled up on the start and then tangled with another rider about halfway though the race as he was trying to move into fifth.

WestCoast Editor

Dana now has to start thinking about staying ahead of McClure who is right on his GRAB BAR!

As we get to the end Nelson is all over the place looking for a place to get around Jeremy. Here as they come into the second to last corner of the race Nelson goes wide where Jeremy goes inside. This was as close a finish as I've seen in a long time. From this corner to the next is about 30 yards or so.

WestCoast Editor

Now Between this corner(the last) and the one just before Nelson some how got pass Jeremy...But that's not the amazing part. By the time they went through the corner some how Jeremy Rocketed around the corner an catapulted himself back around Nelson!
