05 yfz jetting

question~* have a bone stock 2005 yfz450~ took it to an empty lot with a large log and jumped over it it cuts out while in the air~ put a 168 main jet in it and jumped the log again a LITTLE better but still cutting out and a lil backfiring~ HELP!! anyone know what jetting i need for this thing??

its for woods racing if that helps any~

sat. around 7 or 8 am the track is suppose to be ready to be walked by noon!

dont know if im racing the 416 or if i get this freaking jetting straighted out ill be on the 450~

I had the same problem. it wasnt my jetting but my stator. The quad cut out all the time. If you run a pro desgin kill switch or a yfz kill switch start you are jepordizing you stator life

Her yfz is brand new and it has a pingel kill switch so it's not that or the stator

where can u get a pingel and how much? i saw them in parts unlimited but they were 90 bucks, i heard that as long as you dont use the pro design to shut off your quad it has no effect on the stator life , the only time mine is use to shut off my quad is in emergencies like a crash..



about the cutting out, are you sure your just not running it in the right rev range? u cant lug them like a 400ex

stock pipe? go back to stock pilot jet and see if that helps

Bone Stock?? Air box lid off? Baffle out? No 2 YFZ's are going to jet the same. Without a doubt your pilot should be a 45. Start it after the pilot is set make sure it idles without thumbing it. Next jet your needle, being that yours is an 05 the clip is in the 4th spot, no need to adjust since you are stock. Next change the main from stock 155 to 165 . Adjust fuel screw 1 1/2 turns out. Ride quad and see how she handles. These settings are good starting points. Good Luck!!!

Ok 45 pilot 160 main needle 4th clip 40 leak jet she tested it out sunday said it ran great thanks for your suggestions. Oh and the boysen cover doesn't work i've got it on mine. She got the lid on baffle in

I wouldnt really say that, i have a pipe on mine, and i have a 42 pilot. you just have to try everything

I live in the central CA. I put a yz 450f needle on the 4th clip position. A 175 main jet and a 42pilot jet 1 1/2 turns out on the air fuel mixture screw. Runs great now.
