need help with jetting

i have a 400 ex with a 416kit and a white brothers pipe and silencer. my silencer where it meets the motor turns red and smokes a little does this mean i need to jet it and what jets should i use .

sounds lean, a 42 pilot jet, and a 160 main jet will get you started. Depending on temp, elivation, and other mods, you will have a lot of trial and error to do. I'm in the process of trying to dial mine it right now.

with the 42 pilot jet in place i would start around 2.5 turns out from lightly seated on the fuel screw, maybe a hair more. also, lower the needle clip one position.
