Ok, I just moved up from a blaster about 2 weeks ago and I was wondering if anyone can provide me with info I need about 4-strokes, Im used to the simplicity of the blasters and im kind of overwhelmed with all the parts available for the 400ex. I need help with who makes good parts for the 400ex(since with blasters there werent many). And I was wondering what some parts I can get for my motor to improve it and make it better for MX....Thanks!

go with the 440 kit ,jet it, and put a hot cam in it, that will give a hell of a lot of speed but your supension is more important than anything

What size and kind of carb would you go with? and would that be all I would need? And what do you think of the 426 kits?

if u bore it bore at least the 426, the 416 doesnt do that much.
you could put a bigger front and smaller back spocket and have about that same as a 416.what kind of pipe do u run?

Dont just "bore" to a 426 dude. Do a search and you will see. This topic has been discussed a TON of times. The 426 is the last bore on the stock sleeve and not so reliable. If you do a 426 have it re-sleeved. Also most 416 engines rev faster than 440s. Keep that in mind.

Putting a bigger front and smaller back would make it hgiher geared and you would lose a lot of pulling power, you want a larger back or smaller front sprocket. Check into the timng keys, there are a lot of posts on the site bout them and they are only $20. Get a cam and a different carb will help a lot. If you want to go to a 440 do it right or you will have a lot of trouble, from what I have seen.

Ill keep the 416 in mind, and if you meant that I thought I was just going to get a big bore, I also plan on getting porting, cam, carbeurator, and all those other things too. But I will keep the 416 in mind, about how much does it cost to get resleeved??
