I just got my IMS 3.8 gal tank and it's the worst fit I've ever seen, I guess that's why they have a waiver sticker that says not responsible for fit or damage, I'm sure this thing will have a hole in the bottom from rubbing within a month, the metal on the bottom of the steering stem rubs also, what a $200 piece of crap.

did you call them and see what they had to say about it?

I'm calling today but it's 6:30 am pst right now, I think the sticker on the tank says it all though.

i got one and it seems to be too wide on one side but i got the first design of it for the 450r and its noticeable at the bottom where the fenders mount to the tank and when i went to mount my hood i could tell it but its better than the 400ex one i had

you need a +1 or +2 steering stem for it to work.

That would take care of the steering stem part (and I think they should tell you to replace the stem) but that doesn't change the fit of the tank itself, the tank has a natural place that it sits perfect...BUT when you put it there, the tank mounts are way too far back, you can't adjust them enough to make it fit right, so you have to slide the tank up and then the back of the tank comes out of the molded pocket, I hope that makes since, I almost confused myself with that one. kinda like stuffing 5lbs of chit in a 2lb bag, if they can make it right then that would be great, but I think I'm like the sticker on the tank...STUCK! I'm just trying to keep someone else from making the same mistake.

well i got a +1 stem so thats why i didnt encounter that problem but on the shifter side it bulges on me at the bottom near the gas on off res switch so where the fender mounts to the tank it doesnt match up perfect and then its bowing out in the front when i went to mount my maier hood it wasnt wide enough so i stuck with my quadtech one, but im going to try to position the tank a little better so i can run the red hood

i'll admit mine was a pain to fit too, but i did get it to work eventually. i don't really remember seeing anywhere that it would wear through that i can think of, but i'll have to look at it again. the stock tank holds a decent amount of gas already, i just got the ims because i'll need it for races if i eventually get any kind of motor work done, big bore, etc. but it was a pain to get it to fit. if you mess with it awhile you can probably get it but there's nothign you can do about the stem hittin'.

I guess I got lucky. Mine has been on my quad 13 months now. It was a little tight fitting but it went on no problem. I do have a plus 1 stem. I am happy with mine. I just looked at the picture of the Clarke tank, I think it is ugly compared to the IMS. On my 250R I think the Clarke looks better.

no problem here, just grind a little off on the steering stem.

yeah you have to grind about 1/4 off the back edge of the flat part of the stem.then i had some custom 1" risers made.mine is fine now but is a headache.

Hey, no disrespect to anyone but I shouldn't have to grind jack chit let alone buy a new stem, if I lay down $200 I want to be told up FRONT it fits like chit or give me my money back, I e-mailed them today and NOOOOOOOO ANSWER!!!!
