after septemeber 11...gas went up to $5.75 here and the cars were backed up out of town because they said it was still going up a few dollars. I believe the gas station got in big trouble for that though.

Yourself;) (j/k man)

You would need to kill the guys who run OPEC. They set the prices of crude/barrel, correct?? Im not sure though.
I dont think youre local Mobil or Texaco or whatever has anything to do with prices. even the corporations themselves that run these gas stations. Now of course they do have some say as to what they will charge; and prices will vary based on OPEC's oil prices. I may be wrong though.

Also, self-serve places will be cheaper, generally by 6-8 cents per gallon versus the ones that pump for you. At least thats the way it is here.

The one about the KY jelly was funny. I know what you mean. A guy walked into the gas station where I work and told me he had a sore *****.
I wouldve laughed if it wasnt true.:(

On the military base gas is $2.00/gallon 95 octane.
Out in town gas is 110yen/liter and 1gallon = 3.785liters so $4.18/GALLON:( for 100RON (~95 octane US).

Gas stations only make about 2 or 3 cents per gallon profit. OPEC controlls how many barrels of oil is pumped per day and that is how they control the prices of each barrel. With the way supply and demand is OPEC has to much control over our economy, something needs to change. China's economy (thanks to our government outsourcing alot of our jobs to them) is thriving and buying more oil now then ever before in history and that is causing oil to be more in demand, so prices go up per barrel and then at the pumps. OPEC knows this and takes full advantage of it too.

That might be true except for Oregon and New Jersey where it is illegal to pump your own gas :blah:. Gas is about $2.50 in the town nearest me, but if you go to a bigger town its like $2.20 or so

if for just one hour everyday around 5 and for 2 hrs on fridays all of america would stop buying gas all at once. OPEC would change their minds on this over 2 bucks a gallon thing QUICK. think how much money that would be...from 5:00-6:00 everyday....it takes roughly a 45seconds to pump 20 bucks worth of gas... 60 min x 60 seconds= 3,600 seconds in an hr... 3,600seconds an hr / 45 seconds to pump 20 bucks worth of gas=80 times gas could be pumed at one pump in an hr...80 x 20bucks each time= 1,600 bucks an hr FROM ONE PUMP. most gas stations around here have between 4 and 16 pumps so well go with the average of 10 pumps per gas station...1,600 bucks x 10 pumps=16,000 bucks per gas station... say there are 1,200 gas stations per state x 16,000 bucks a station= 19,200,000 <that number x 50 states =$960,000,000 per hr in the united states....that number is bigger than most people can even imagine.... and thats roughly...low balling...on how much money we are spending on gas IN ONE HOUR... idk about yall... but i think thats insane...
