Whats the stock rear usually? And what does going up a tooth in the rear do?

I run 15/39 for higher speed desert or 13/39 for the tighter desert trails. This is with 22" tires. For the dunes with 20" paddles, I run 15/39.

a stock setup on a 450r is a 14/38, But when u drop down a tooth on the front it, its the same as adding between 3-4 teeth on the back (from what i hear). All your doing by putting a smaller sprocket on front, or a bigger sprocket on the back is making u loose top end, but gain bottom end. Easiest way for me to explain it,

Its just like a Mt Bike!!!!! I dont see y people cant really grasp this point!

12/38 here. The tight trails by my house were a real pain in the *** with the 20's and stock gearing.
Now that I have the Rekluse kit, I think I might go back to the 14/38 when it comes time for new chain and sprokets.

I've got about 25-30 hrs on it now... Doesn't look too bad yet. If it makes it throught he summer I'll be happy. Chains starting to stretch a little now though so we'll see.
