The scoops are pretty simple to make but hard to get perfect. I marked the area to be cut with tap, the take a razor blade knife and start to cut the holes in the fender ( only 3 sides ) . don't try to go all the way tru the fender on one pass. it will take maybe 10 passes to go all the way tru. then take a spare piece of plastic and cut out the shape you for the sides. try to get all the piece the same size. then from the underneat of the fender take a sodering gun and just melt the peice togheter. you can do it from the front to but then you have to sand it smooth and paint the fender.

here are a couple more pics fom the front.
This on e looks weird I don't really like it but wtv. in the middle of the rebuild, just had to try it and see how it looked.

if anybody whats a better pic from the front just ask an I'll go take one. these are all like a month old and I wasn't really taking pics of the scoops.

This is one he did on my buddy's 300ex before paint so you can see how it's made.

What did you use to paint your plastics?

44oEX
04-06-2005, 06:20 PM
I sanded the fenders smooth to take out all the scraches and stuff, then I primed them and then painted with normal sray paint. My frame and stuff is painted with car paint but it's to much $$$ for the fenders cause if you flip it the paint job is gone. so spray paint is cheap and easy to fix.

you can get some special plastic paint with flex in it that would last alot better but I didn't find any in time. I think it's called fusion paint.

^^^yep krylon fusion. other things u could do would be paintin hubs, oil filter cover, etc. do some polishing on it. shockcovers, etc.

I still have a couple tricks left to make you quad look good.

You could build a custom clear airbox.

i like the air box and scoops im goin to give both a shot. what did you use to bond the pexaglass together you should start making those and selling them i bet they would sell good just my 2cents come on guys im in a rebuild and need some more ideas

44oEX
04-07-2005, 06:30 PM
it's not plexi glass. don't use that it will brake.

It's lexan. and to make it bond you need a specail glue that melts the two peices together. don't know the name tho.

I might try to sell some later them this summer. but I have to test then on a track first as soon as it dryes up. to see how it holds up.

what else do you have in mind I have alot of custom stuff if you want idea. le me know what you need I probably have pics lol

04-07-2005, 07:44 PM
ok i was woundering if it would brake or not, im goin to try and make some airscoops out of pexaglass when i get close to finishing the rebuild i think it will look cool i dont know what elsa yet i got a few ideas but not sure yet deff want one of those airboxes tho if you can make me one pm me a price or i really want one but i want to be able to put the battery in it if its strong enof if not i will put it up front but u should really pat. that if you made it up

44oEX
04-08-2005, 05:26 AM
I would like to make a couple and sell them, I really have to test the toughness tho lol,I really don'T think you could put the battery in there it would bust open, unless you put alot of reinforcement or steel plate or something. So you would be better off putting it on the front.

I would love to pat. that

give me a couple weeks say mid May then send me a PM . by then my exams will be finished and I sould be able to do a little testing to see really how tough this thing is. lol

As fro you scoops that would look really good BUT DON'T use plexiglass. use lexan. Lexan can bend and it won't snap. you can ben it 180 dergees. ( flat ) in a vise and you won't snap lexan ( i tryed ) so stay away from plexiglass it won't bend it will just blow up and snap.

I haven't had a chance to try it out yet, but it seems pretty strong.... I was thinking about putting my stock cover on it, if I cut the corners, it would fit, but I'm not sure how it will stay on:confused: Did you make your cover out of lexan and what did you use to fasten it?

Anyway here are the pics, I added support brackets inside the box, just for some extra strength, I think it looks kinda cool with the red washers.

well for the cover. I sandwitch 2 peice of lexan together with a hole in the middle and put a outerwear in between. to hold it down I used bolts in the 4 corners. if you look at my pis you can see then pretty good.

440 ex where did u get your carbon fiber lights at? i cant find any carbon fiber parts any wear so if you could tell me i would appreciate it alot

44oEX
04-10-2005, 04:40 PM
it's not real carbon fiber. it's only carbon fiber sticker ( look alike ) that I got at wal-mart for like 10-15$. But it does look just like the real stuff and people think it's carbon fiber. lol

no limit

doesnt the underside of the plastic show red spots from rock chips undernieth, also when u cut the 2 slots in the fenders what did you use to hold them down after they were cut?

44oEX
04-11-2005, 06:19 PM
Well on the on the under neet of the back fender I put some stickers. but so far so good.:D

As for the scoops I used a sodering gun to melt the plastic together.
