Help w/300ex w/400ex carb

I need help. I have a 300ex with a 400ex carb on it. The 400ex carb came with the 400ex throttle cable on it. But the part of the cable that has threads to screw into the 300ex thumb throttle is too small. And even if it screwed into the 300ex thumb throttle there would be too much cable left and it would not open the carb. Am I supposed to have a 400ex thumb throttle with the 400ex carb abd cable? Will a 400ex thumb throttle take care of the slack in the cable? Or could the guy that sold the carb to me have had another cable on it? I was going to try the 300ex cable on the 400ex carb. Will this work? I am not sure if the threaded elbow part of the cable would screw into the top of the 400ex carb. Thanks for any help.

Umm I think the 300 throttle cable will fit the 400 carb, but I am not positive. Just give it a try.

i used the 300 cable and it works fine or you can use the 400 thunb throttle and cable.
