As i was changing my oil, i somehow managed to strip the bolt so that when i leave the quad sitting there is a tiny spot of oil that falls from the bottom of the quad. What should i do? Help!

I don't know if this will work, BUT: Get a new drain plug and try to rethread the threads on the motor with a tap (threader). WATCH FOR METAL SHAVINGS!! Don't let them get in the motor.

try following the threads with the correct TAP you could probably get one at a local auto parts store bring the bolt and match it to a TAP then chase the threads with it that may work

how hard is it to tap? i have one but i think its too small for the hole..can i just get one from Autozone?

its not hard you just need to make shure that the TAP is in straight and just thread it in like a regular bolt:pand yea you could probably ick one up from autozone or homodepot:blah:

so all i do is put it in straight and then screw it in like a regular bolt? so then i go to home depot with the tap and find the right bolt?

how would i prevent metal from getting into the oil tank?

im assuming the oil tank drain plug stripped what i would do is bring the plug to home depot and get a tap for that size then just screw it in like a regular bolt but it may be tough so you might wanna pick up a T handle for taps when you are there i would do that if it doesnt work then go to the next size up TAP then get the approtpriate drill bit and drill it then TAP it make sure its straight once again and get a bolt that fits that particular TAP while you are out buying it

how much do you think this is going to cost me?

maybe 7 for a TAP and 20 for the Thandle and they are good to have

There is about a 1 percent chance running a tap through your drain hole will fix the problem. The bolt pulled the threads out of the hole so nothing is left to make threads. Even if you could tap the hole and thread the drain plug back in, you probably won't be able to torque it all the way without stripping it again. Bottom line I would helicoil it to fix it, that would be the right way to do it. It's expensive but it won't strip again. Look for a post by CHAR250r about a stripped drain hole if you want more info.
