valve adjustment worries

I was riding this weekend and started to notice a ticking noise when i was at idle. i'm pretty sure it's the valves but im not sure. the honda shop i usually go to checked them less than 20 hours ago and said they were ok. is there anything else it could be and if it is how difficult is it. i printed off the DIY info on the tech page. with that info and never having done any work on an engine before is it something i should be able to do?

it has to be the vavles. thats what happened to mine. you should tell them to get them adjusted like i did to mine:)

Seems like just about every Honda 400 motor I've heard in both the EX and XR has a noisy valvetrain.

Yeah if you take your time and have the right tools its a simple job.
