i ride/race cross country here in texas. most of our tracks are dry and dusty but we have our times of rain and mud. if i were to shave my fenders would i get covered in mud? does it really make that much of a difference in speed? i know that i would have a bit more of control of the quad because i can see where i am going.

i have done a search on this and it didnt answer a few questions i had.

i say keep the full fenders. your racing xc so whats the point in shaving them, surely not for aerodynamics, i mean your in trails most of the time, its not goin to make a difference in speed. and i think xc quads look MUCH better with full fenders, i guess im the only one tho:(

the texas tracks are half open/mx and half woods

i read on a thread a few days ago that people shaved the fenders to get a better feel of where the quad is going (ruts and tight trails) and another person said that wind catches the fenders in the air thus throwing the quad in a different direction than what was meant. those made me want to shave them^

would i gain a bit more topend speed? would it be harder to pull into a wheelie in 4th and 5th gear?

catman those fenders are bald man. they look like good cuts but they are like short short

I don't have a 400ex yet but I found this guy who just cut his fenders a little bit. I thought it looked pretty cool.

ive finally got some ride time on my shaved fenders (ones in the link). I noticed if your going slower through shallow puddles you will get some water/mud on your hands and legs. just hammer through it and you wont feel a thing. :D
