View Full Version : 416 to bore or not to bore, is that the question???

i recently posted a thread and was told that i could bore the stock cylinder, is that true???, or can i just buy a sleeve all done, also how much will it cost, and are there any diff types of gaskets i need to buy or just the sleave also an y tips???

Have you done a search on the 416? There is quite a bit of info on it already. To answer your questions, a 416 is bored .080 over, no need for a new sleeve. You can use a cometic gasket kit, or you can buy the OEM gaskets from a 400ex or xr400. If you are doing the work yourself, call Terry @ Marcum's. He can set you up for about $275, including a new cam.

what kind of tools do u need to bore it? and how hard is it to do

take it somewhere and have it bored .080 over. it's only like 60 bucks canadian

TAKE THE CYL TO AN AUTO MACHINESHOP HAVE THEM BORE IT AND FINISH HONE IT TAKE THE PISTON WITH IT SO THEY KNOW WHAT TO SET THE PISTON CLEARANCE TO. GOOD LUCK FASTWAY MOTORSPORTS
