i've started mx racing and am about to buy some new tires. i'm planning on getting the 18x11-9 rears, but i'm not sure what i should do for the front. should i get 19" or 20" fronts? any opinions on this.

thanks...

Go with 18x 11x8. Go with 19 inch grooved radials.

These radials are great. Probably one of the best handleing improvements i have.

From what I've read the grooved radials are great for hard pack and the holeshots are the best in the loose stuff. Any truth to it? :p

i may get radials if i can find some at a decent price, but i'm more concerned about the size right now. i know some people run 19" but i don't know if that changes things to get the ratio of front to back sizes different from stock. i want to hear from racers what the thinking is on 19" versus 20".

I would go with the 20 fronts becouse the 19 are actually a shade shorter then the radials, If you go to short on the front tires you will hit your frame on the ground on big jumps and in the whoop section. I run radials in front only becouse i cant afford to but a new set of holeshots every 3 months. You need two sets of front tires for the track if you run the radials becouse if it is muddy they are the worst tires bar none. Holeshots will perform in any condition but they do wear out QUICK.
