About the Burgard Cucle Bearing Carrier?

I am going to buy one, but I had a question first. I wasn't thinking about it but in the picture of the one for the 400ex It has the grease jerk on it in the middle of the carrier.

Well, I'm not exacitally sure how that would work considering there's a cast alumunum housing that would cover that.

Is that just a pic of a different model, and or is the one for my 01 400ex have the Jerk on the side or somthing?

That is a grease ZERK fitting. Before installation you pump grease into it. It looks like a nice feature but I don't see where it actually helps anything. The cavity between the carrier and axle sleeve can probably hold a half tube of grease but the only thing it might help do is keep water from setteling in and rusting things.
