330 or 350 kit, it'll run with, and beat a stock 400ex. Get an exhaust too.

If you really want to go faster, get new shocks. It won't be faster in drags and such, but you'll be able to ride trails and track a crap load faster.

keep it stock, its all about the rider unles your drag racing, then you'll really have something to make fun of him with when your stock 300ex is keeping up with his 400ex,lol

If you want more power, I'd start with a Curtis Sparks X-4 exhaust, a K&N filter, and a good 400EX carb. Depending on what type of riding you do most, plus the type of tires you run, I'd say redo your gearing. That'll help out with power on flat ground.

If you're wanting to do better offroad, I'd start with a good set of shocks. If you have the money for it, a new axle and a-arms. Better brake rotors and pads can also come in handy.

This is getting into considerably more money than a pipe, but here's what I'd do if I was in your place and had some extra money.

I'd say if you're riding woods, I'd start with a set of +1 or +2 Burgard a-arms, a set of Elkas with rezzies(Works shocks would work fine, and cost considerably less), and prolly a Lonestar axle. For Tires, use a 20 inch tire out back with a set of 21 or 22 inch up front. I'd prolly use ITP Holeshot XCR's. I'd say best gearing for this would prolly be to put a 36 tooth front sprocket on.

If you're wanting more of an MX setup, basically the same thing as before, but a set of +3 arms, and maybe an extended swingarm. For tires I use the Holeshot MXR4's, 18 inch on back, and 19 inch on front. Using a 34 tooth rear sprocket helps, but I also slide on a 14 tooth on the front.

Now the a-arms if they are plus two does that mean two on each side or 2 total inches and was thinking about the holeshot h-d but are those out of the question? and where should i get the burguard a arms from.

+2 on each side for a total of +4, and for the burgard purchase location, check out c&d, heard nothing but good things

I'd stay away from the HD's on a quad as small as a 300. They're a pretty hefty tire. And unless you're going to be doing some hardcore XC or woods riding, they might be just a bit of overkill. But trust me, the Holeshot XCR's are a good tire for trails. Mine had a set when I bought it, and they were really good tires. I just don't ride XC or woods, so the MXR4's were my tire of choice.

Lol, sorry about that. I haven't slept much lately, so I'm wore the frigg out. Plus I managed to break a wrench and get it stuck through my arm, so I'm kinda light headed today.

First thing I'd do is get rid of the stock headpipe. It's way too restrictive. Those HD holeshots are heavy. I like the radials that come stock on the 400ex for trails. I have stock 400ex A-arms on my 250X. They widen it out a good bit and they're cheap.

i thought a 400ex carb on a stock 300ex motor would hurt more than help?..thats what i was going to do until i was told otherwise

I've heard it helps even if the internals are stock. Just jet it correctly and have a good quality exhaust and air filter, and it should be just fine. And I wouldn't recommend using the 400EX a-arms. I've heard it doesn't help the handling any, but can actually make it worse and be potentially dangerous. Just because it makes it wider doesn't mean it will work better. If I end up getting better suspension for mine, I'm prolly gonna get +3 Burgard arms and 4/1 offset rims. Along with a +2 swingarm and +4 axle, it oughtta handle great. I just can't wait until I have the money for it.

Did you use the 400ex a arms with the stock shocks?? how does it handle compared to stock. right now I have works dual rates w/o rezzies on the front and my front tires inverted and that gave me +5 on the front.. but if I can get maybe a +3 or +4 out of 400 a arms I'd like to turn my front wheels back around. I just don't have the money for the bracket to mount 400 shocks plus the cost of the shocks and a arms. I don't want stock 400 shocks either, If I ran with a 400 front end I'd put some tripple rates on it.

thanks for the replies guyz i think im gunna go with the holeshot xcr's and quad works power kit. As far as the exhaust goes will it make a difference if i get a different head pipe or will a slip on exhaust be just as effective and what exhaust do u guyz recomend the most for a 300ex? thx

get a hmf made a lot of difference even without a new header and you can add a header klater

i wouldn't go with the 400ex front end setup. i did this and got rid of it cause of how it performed. stick with getting stuff made for the 300ex. you will be happier with it in the long run.

Mine handles fine. Much better than stock. I have Works 250r triple rates up front.

so what types of exhaust do u guyz run on ur 300ex's i was looking at the yoshermera or the white bros e series so far any recommendations?

Yoshimura would be alright, although I'd stay away from the White Bros. I've never really been impressed with the way they performed. If power is what you want, and sound is not a big issue, get the Sparks X-4, it's the best exhuast they make for the 300's. Although it can be a little loud, it's not as bad as others volume wise. And at $350 bucks, it's a good deal. Yoshimura is a decent pipe too, although I'm not sure about the pricing, the performance is decent I'm guessing. I'd say leave the Yoshi pipes to the Suzuki's though.

I have a DG on mine it is loud but seems to work good but I would like to have a pipe the isn't so loud but has a deeper tone to it!

I run a supertrapp header with a stock muffler. Doesn't offend anyone and it runs fine. My neighbors don't care if I go for a ride at 9:30 when I get home from work. I just chug by their houses and open it up when I get out of earshot. I just got back from a loop around town. You already have the header, just see if your stock muffler will fit it.

you cant put 400 shocks on without the relocator bracket, it just wont work. id just buy some good aftermarket shocks made for your 300. 400 shocks suck just as bad anyhow they only have preload adjust, theyre just a bit longer thats all. look at my sig for exhaust ideas. mine is loud as hell, dont have quiet core. sounds awesome:macho

Sparks X-4's perform GREAT on 300ex's. I just got rid of my magamax and put the x-4 on my 330, and wow. It has so much torque. If you really want to beat his 400ex in a drag, and have a ton more torque than him so you can toast him in the trails, just do everythign to yours thats in my sig. I origanally wanted to sell the 300 w/t the stock motor and buy a 400, but I wasnt allowed so I put in a 330, and it is just a huge differemce. The sparks pipe has a very good sound to it, and it is nice and loud, just like I like it. I am more than happy with my 300, the next thing for me will probablly be some new gearing, a 400 carb, and suspension / a-arms.

BTW, if you want to make it look really good, do what I did, cut the fenders and put on a 250R hood. Look at my post in here that says "what do you guys think of my 300?" I really like the way it looks.

Where do you live? If you are in PA, then you could drive down to instigator racign and get one. But I doubt you are, so if you want the number for instigator, just PM me and I'll send it to you. I got my x-4 for $315 + tax which equaled about $330. I'm sure he can ship it out to you, and it will probablly be a better price than ordering it direct from sparks.

www.instigatorracing.com It is not a big store or anything like that. Its just a parts shop that this guys runs out of a seperate garage he built. He gives you better prices that I can find anywhere else. It is in freeport, PA.

try a yoshimura pipe or supertrapp pipe. They are kind of expensive but they do increase your horsepower and top speed
