if you mainly ride tight trails i would go with red but
my bike has only been on mx tracks and i have had my black 450
since august and it might have a few more scratches than a red one would but it still looks better imo

Go with the red then. My buddy bought his black 450 in Feb. My other buddy has had his red one since the end of '03, and the new black one looks older than the red one. He only rides trails.:( It's hard to beat black if you're gonna keep it out of trails!

if they ae rough trails the rear fenders will take a beating. i'm going black but i'll have graphics on the rear fenders to keep them from looking too bad

no i dont ride very rough trails, but i do ride muddy trails, does mud screw with the plastic and make it look old? Ps I clean my bike after every muddy ride, i would do the same with the 4wheeler, will that keep the plastic looking good?

Both red and black scratch and fade equally......it's your preference on which color to go with. You can always replace with Maier plastics down the road.
