There was a thread that had a link to this website that tested about 10 different pipes, and hmf was one of them. They tested them all on a yfz, or the R, i cant remember. Try searching for the link. It had sound tests for losts of pipes for you to listen to.

You think the HMF is annoying? That surprises me. I love the sound of my HMF, yeah it's loud...but not obnoxious. All my friends love it too, some are actually afraid of it (I kid you not, they are younger kids though.) It screams get the f*ck outta my way.:D

I dunno how much help that will be to him. All of those pipes are rather quiet, and , in my opinion, sound very much alike. The loudest seems to be the Big gun. Maybe it's just because the audio is crappy, but the exhaust will obviously be louder in person.

Most slip-ons that arent "quiet" versions are all about within 5 or so decibels of eachother. This number may be a bit off though, this is just a guess. What Im getting at is that most slip-ons sound very much alike; I cant really tell a big difference between the E-series I had on my old bike and the DG I have on the current 400.
DG does seem to be a bit louder, but not by much. From what I have heard on here, the HMF puts out a nice sound, and is also very high quality.

Just wondering, what do you guys pay for a slip-on HMF in your areas? (400ex)

Oh, alright. :)

DeerNuts: I paid $209 for mine when HMF first started to have their name put out...this was over a year ago though, I think their prices have been raised, and even their slip-ons have changed. Mine is a round canister, I think their current designed ones have more of an oval shape to them.

(Excuse me if I'm wrong; I've been out of the quad scene for a while...just returning now.)

no there still round, its the 450r canister than you can get oval. and there still around $209, but with powdercoating it adds like 20 bucks or something

Okay. I remember now. I did pay the $20 to get mine powdercoated as well.

Good thing they are still round, I saw their oval ones and don't like them compared to the round.:)
