Does anyone know what type of coating in on TC's headers to make them that "brownish" color? Thanks.

I don't think there are any coatings on TC pipes. I had a 400ex pipe and it was not, and I've seen the YFZ pipes and they aren't coated either...

TC's race pipes are modified Supertrapps.

I've got a TC header that I've done some welding/grinding on, and I'm wanting a coating to hide the imperfections and prevent rust on the bare metal. Got any ideas?

Yeah I'd have the header and mid-pipe ceramic coated...

theres nothing wrong with high temp black paint,i have had it last for years when properly applied.i think those coatings you pay for arent as durable.icant count how many times nickle plated pipes started discoloring in no time:(

Whenever I use the high temp black paint, it flakes off near the engine. What brand of paint are you using that holds up so well?

i took a pipe to my job and put it in the pickle tanks(acid tanks).you want to make sure all the rust is off before you paint it.use paint for high heat(1200 degrees).on exhaust.they sell paint for 500 degrees as well, that wont last:)

I ceramic coated mine. Haven't rode it yet, but it looks good and hasn't discolored after idling in the driveway.

http://www.seeulookin.com/tc1.JPG Does the ceramic coating help hide imperfections and even everything out like powdercoating does? Where did you get your pipe done, and how much on average does it cost? Thanks.

I did mine myself. how bad are the imperfections? you got a pic? I cut off and grinded down the tabs on mine. here's a pic of it installed.

BTW, you said you cut off and grinded down the tabs on your headpipe. Do you have the stock header with the heat shield taken off?

it's the TC header. It had the mounting tabs for a heat shield, but was never shipped with one. I think it's a modified crf250 header. I just cut off the tabs and ground down the welds
