There are tons of threads on this...just do a search and you'll find you answer...or at least what someone else thinks is the answer.

Depends on your style of riding. I use a UNI

why does everyone beat this topic to death? there are a million topics on this. SEARCH is your friend.

IMHO though I wouldn't trust anything w/ an engine unless it had a K&N on it. All the vehicles I own plus my jet skis and quad have K&Ns in them. I am a K&N man for life.

sorry mx400 for making such a god awful mistake......you should cut a lil slack to new comers like me....unless it was againest some unwritten law for me to post a thread that has already been addressed.....

That's the way it goes journeyman. It's like that everywhere on all sorts of sites, especially automotive ones. Instead of being glad another new member is aboard, and rather than just not saying anything instead of saying something negative, they have to give you a hard time for sparking a discussion. Now in this case, it was pretty mild though!

i wasn't being a dick. I was just stating the fact that this thread has been beat to death. Just search or go through some of the forums history.

i would most defanitly get a k&n but i would only put an outerwear cover on it if the airbox lid was removed.

I ran K+N on my blaster and i went thru two cranks in a year. Since then i have switched to Uni or anything foam that wont let dirt in. K+N let so much dirt in it was ruining my motors

All I've ran in my car's, trucks, and quads I've owned have been K and N with outterwears. I like them alot and they seem to holed up well. But I just got done with my 440 motor build and Im going to buy a couple foam filters maybe a UNI or sumthing like that. It seems to me on very dusty days that the K&N donest filter as good as what i think it should... I own two for my quad so i can have a clean one ready at all times... Because I think they seem to get dirty pretty fast. But what I think I'm going to start doing is for Tacky, and not very dusty days Ill run my K&N's but for dusty days and such, I'm going to run a foam filter so it can filter the finer dirt, and dust a little bit better.. Thats just my thought on them.. someone might tell you sumthing different.

so a k&n with a stock air box or an outerwear lid would be ok though?

one thing you have to realize though that going w/ a foam filter you are going to loose power because it doesn't let as much air in as what a K&N does. If you would properly maintain a K&N you won't have problems w/ it. I personnally oil my K&N every other ride. My setup is K&N w/ pre-filter and filter lid for air box.
