hey pappy, i was looking on their site and i was wondering about the lab-metal filler. have you worked with this much? could you post some pics if you have i think it would really make a frame stand out if you filled in all the gaps and welds, like after a gusset job.

i was also wondering about polishing a coated part. i did a few things on my bike in a 160 gloss chrome and cleared it with a 130 gloss clear. after i cleared it, it really hurt the shine of the chrome. would waxing it help this much? it's still pretty shiny, but no where near how it was. and would i use normal paint wax and a paint buffer?

i can post some pics before and after the clear if it would help

Thanks,
Josh

you could use lab metal just like you would bondo for autobody applications. the biggest difference is ofcourse price and the cure procedure. the biggest downfall would be the risk of the filler cracking and loosening the powdercoat just as bondo will with paint. on a harley or a part that didnt really flex id say go for it but i would be too afraid to use it on a quad frame.

chrome pc looks pretty good until you clear it. the gloss of the clear is actually higher then the chrome so it knocks down the sheen. the best results are to fully cure the chrome before adding the clear but it only helps a little.

there is no substitute for chrome:p

yeah no kiddin! but i heard the oil tank will hold more heat when plated. i also started to polish it, but that would be too much work to keep lookin good, imo.

i'm pretty happy with how it turned out. after i waxed it, it looked quite a bit better. i'll post a pic sometime

thanks again man!!

no prob man.

i have waxed parts, even wet sanded and buffed them. on harley parts and show car parts sometimes its needed to fit alongside a few thousand dollars worth of chrome:p

you can even wax out small scratches just like paint but deep scratches your stuck with. if its a small part, you can even re cure it and flow out some scuffs.
